About AAES
The Austin Area Echo Society (AAES) is a non-profit organization of physicians and sonographers practicing in the field of cardiovascular ultrasound. Founded in 2007, the organization will serve as a source of continuing education and a means of communication among ultrasound professionals in Austin and the surrounding areas.
The AAES is recognized by the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), a society commited to excellence in cardiovascular ultrasound and patient care through education. This partnership with ASE allows AAES to provide CEUs (continuing education units) to members attending our conferences.
The AAES is run by sonographers under the guidance of a Medical Director, Kunjan Bhatt, M.D. All advisors and officers volunteer their services.
The AAES is open to anyone with an interest in echocardiography. Our membership includes sonographers, physicians, students, and representatives of companies that manufacture ultrasound equipment and related supplies.
While the AAES encourages all sonographers to become registered as a mark of their commitment and competence, it is not a requirement for membership. Many of our members are students or newly graduated sonographers. Others are professional sonographers in other modalities such as general and vascular sonography.
